The Art of Listening Without Fixing

When a brother speaks of his pain, our instinct is often to solve the problem. We jump to advice, strategies, and solutions. But sometimes, what is needed most is simply presence.

Holding Space

To hold space is to listen with the sole intent of understanding, not responding. It means sitting with discomfort without trying to make it go away. This silence allows the other person to explore their own feelings and find their own answers.

Next time a friend opens up, try saying: ‘I hear you, and I am here with you.’
